Valentine’s Day is celebrated by more than half of all people in the United States each year. People buy candy and flowers as well as make dinner reservations for someone special. It is a holiday that revolves around love and attraction which makes it difficult to celebrate appropriately in the workplace.
The pleasure that so many people receive from celebrating this special day makes it difficult to ignore it at work however, many people without someone special in their lives find it a very uncomfortable day. That said, it is important to include all employees in some type of celebration. A pot luck lunch or bringing cookies or treats for everyone can be a fun way to celebrate, just be careful not to get too personal or excessive.
Remember to make sure that flirting is left out of the workplace. Something as simple as a greeting card can even start trouble so, be sure that employees leave cupid at home.
