Looking for the NAPBS? You might have a hard time finding it. The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) announced the major change to become the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA).
Furthermore, the change in name marks the PBSA’s milestone of transitioning from a national level to a worldwide reach. Association executives officially released the announcement last week during the 2019 Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
“In today’s global economy, information moves faster than ever before and the opportunities and challenges facing the screening profession often have ripple effects around the world,” PBSA Chair Bon Idziak stated. “The new PBSA brand speaks to our ability to transcend borders and symbolizes our modern approach to screening, privacy, and data security, and the technology our industry embodies.”
Brief History of PBSA
Founded in 2003, the PBSA was established to represent the interest of companies offering employment and tenant background screening services. They represent nearly 900 member companies engaged in employment and tenant background screening.
However, the vision of shifting to a worldwide organization initiated 12 years ago with the creation of an international committee. In the years that followed, this led to three international chapters. As global development of these chapters continued, the need for rebranding became apparent nonetheless.
