Effective November 1, 2018 the Police Record Check Reform Act – Ontario, Canada

ARTICLE BY: Alliance 2020

Effective November 1, 2018 the Police Record Check Reform Act has changed the way criminal record check results are provided for searches conducted on current residents of Ontario, Canada.

The Act will now require that a secondary consent be obtained from the Candidate before the criminal record check result is released to the organization that requested the search. This additional process will allow Candidates to view the results of the search that was conducted and confirm in writing that they consent to sharing the results with the organization. This is for all search result types: Clear, Not Clear, and Confirmed Criminal Record.

The secondary consent must be obtained directly by Alliance 2020, and not the employer. If you have any questions related to this new law, you can email compliance@alliance2020.com.
